  • Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. held the Rooted in History, Rising in Service gala last weekend in Bowling Green to honor local leaders and inspire future service. Honorees included mayor Joe Denning and Dr. Saundra Starks (featured) as the event celebrated scholarship and leadership.  WNKY
  • Several local groups are hosting the Fair Chance Opportunity Fair on Monday, Mar. 9 at WKU Knicely Conference Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The fair offers an expungement clinic plus resources to help residents understand the process.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • House on the Hill is hosting Fountain Square Art Festival on April 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 444 East Main Ave, featuring art displays and a 5K run to raise funds for low-income families and a housing endowment in honor of Danny Carothers.  WNKY
  • Kentucky Museum has launched its Celebration of the Arts exhibit (a juried art show with 150 entries in ten categories) that tells the creative story of local talent. The exhibit will run until April 17th, giving community members of all ages a chance to share their art.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The LifeSkills Center for Child Welfare Education & Research will host its 6th Annual Child Welfare Expo at the Knicely Center on April 2 from 5pm to 7:30pm — featuring keynote speaker Adriana Rodriguez and awards honoring child welfare professionals.  SOKY Happenings
  • BGISD announced that special programs director Candice 'Candy' Peay will retire on June 30, 2026, after nearly 26 years of service; the district will begin its search for a new director as Peay assists with the transition (she started as a teacher in 2000 and led special programs since 2020).  WNKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kentucky League of Cities launched a specialty license plate to support disaster relief. It costs $44 a year, will be available in March at county clerks’ offices, and its proceeds—benefiting the Helping Cities Fund—aim to help cities recover from natural disasters.  WBKO

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Warren County Drug Task Force is alert for synthetic opioid Cychlorphine after receiving an HIDTA alert; officials say the drug can be inhaled, vaped, ingested, or injected and may require multiple doses of Narcan.  WBKO

  • The Trojanettes defeated Logan County 71-44 at Diddle Arena in Sunday's Girls Fourth Region Tournament game, securing their ticket to Friday's semifinal matchup against Monroe County.  WCLU Radio
  • WKU softball players Erica Houge & Annie White earned Conference USA honors Monday, Mar. 2 after strong performances that extended a 10-game win streak at the WKU Softball Complex. They will face Missouri State on Friday at 6 p.m.  Bowling Green Daily News
