- ➤ The 29th Trailblazers event was held yesterday at Mount Zion Baptist Church to honor local Black achievers in community service, education, and public service. The program featured readings of honorees’ bios, a spoken-word poem, and tributes from officials (including Judge Ralph Bailey and youth ambassador Cayden Dunn). Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ On Saturday, Feb. 28, Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz spoke at Capitol Theater + 250 locals listened as she honored her father's legacy, shared her childhood experiences, and stressed that education builds community during the close of Black History Month. College Heights Herald
- ➤ WKU hosted its first open mic night in Grise Hall on Thursday, Feb. 26 with 15 performers sharing poetry, fiction and screenwriting. Heather Neidlinger (a third-year MFA candidate) said the series will continue with events on March 26 and April 23. College Heights Herald

- ➤ WKU’s Resilient Refugee Program, launched in 2022, helped refugee student Ataulla Tahiri graduate in fall 2025 with a finance and economics degree and pursue a Master’s in economics – the program also earned WKU a 2026 Senator Paul Simon Award as a Spotlight Award winner for internationalization. - ➤ On Thursday, a Startup Garden event at WKU’s Innovation Campus examined the BG 2050 Project, a county initiative using AI tools and community input to plan for smarter growth and economic diversity. - ➤ Western Kentucky's softball team earned two wins in a Saturday event at the WKU Softball Complex, beating Illinois and Ball State. Sophomore pitcher Erica Houge helped the team build a nine-game streak and an 8-0 home record in Bowling Green. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ Western Kentucky pitcher Erica Houge threw a no-hitter in a 5-0 win over IU Indy on Sunday at the WKU Softball Complex, earning the program's 14th no-hitter and improving the team's record to 15-3. She walked one batter and struck out six in six innings. Bowling Green Daily News
- ➤ Today, Caverna hosted a memorial for student Eli Heacock on the one-year anniversary of his passing as the Colonels won the 18th District Championship Game 48-40 in overtime against LaRue County.
