  • Four local churches team up for an Empty Bowls event on March 19 at Broadway United Methodist Church (the first multi-church partnership) to raise funds for food pantries supporting First Christian Church’s Community Grocery Store and the Warren County Public Schools Synergy Center.  Bowling Green Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Laiken Hayes led a free Walk with a Doc event Saturday that combined a discussion on heart health and a casual walk at a local park to offer community health tips. The program will run monthly (10:15 a.m. on the second Saturday) with the next walk set for March 14.  WBKO
  • Med Center Health doctor Emily McGuffey warned that a recent winter storm has caused over 100 fall injuries in the area, and she advised residents to wear slip-resistant shoes, walk slowly, and use railings to stay safe.  WBKO

SPORTS NEWS

  • Western Kentucky’s softball team split decisions at the Mercer Invitational on Friday after beating Army 2-1 and then losing 12-9 to Mercer in Macon. Their performances marked a notable early stage in the tournament.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky’s softball team split two games at the Mercer Invitational on Saturday in Macon, Georgia, losing 8+6 to Iowa and winning 13+2 over Mercer in six innings. The team will host the Hilltopper Classic Friday at the WKU Softball Complex.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • HillToppers clinched their regular-season sweep with an 82 to 80 win over the Blue Raiders on Saturday, Feb. 14 at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Lady Toppers beat Jax State 56-41 at E. A. Diddle Arena on Saturday, Feb. 14 to end an eight-game losing streak — junior forward Tatum Boettjer and senior guard Tia Shelling led the win.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis team beat UNC Asheville 5 to 2 at the Greg Adams Tennis Center on Saturday with five singles wins, improving to a 5 to 4 season record; they will face Eastern Kentucky today at 9:00 a.m. CT streamed on ESPN+.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky beat BYU four to two on Saturday at Nick Denes Field as Camden Ross drove in key runs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Hilltoppers a two to one lead in the season-opening series.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Western Kentucky junior Kinley Kunkel won the women’s 5,000-meter run at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday, setting a personal record (16:45.08) and finishing over nine seconds ahead of the runner-up.
