  • St. Teresa thrift store in Bowling Green is launching its 40 Days of Lenten Giving Challenge on Feb. 18 and it will run through April 4. The store asks for drop-offs of clothes and toys (600 US 31-W ByPass Suite 18B) to help seniors and low-income families.  WNKY
  • Last Thursday, The Hive held an open house in Scottsville as it prepared for its new Allen County location opening on Feb. 16. The facility will operate Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will partner with TopCrops to offer gardening training.  WNKY
  • The Hive held an open house in Scottsville on Thursday to preview its second location that will offer learning and social opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. The nonprofit will officially open the space on Monday, Feb. 16 — inviting community members to explore new services.  WBKO
  • Joe Denning broke barriers as a police officer, trooper, school board member, city commissioner, and mayor pro tem in Bowling Green during segregation. His legacy is preserved with the City Hall lobby renamed Denning Commons in August 2023 as part of Black History Month celebrations.  WNKY

  • Chad Duke was named station manager and general sales manager at WNKY News 40 effective Feb. 9 after longtime General Manager Julie Milam left on Feb. 6 to join the Chamber of Commerce (she led the station for 17 years). Duke brings over 20 years of local media experience.  WNKY

  • Arsenic and Old Lace will open at Barn Lot Theater on Feb. 19 and run until March 1 with 11 performances, including weekend matinees and a special midweek show on Feb. 24 (the play blends dark humor with quirky characters to entertain all ages).  WCLU Radio
  • On Wednesday, SOKY Speaks featured Ashlee Wilson with Libby Short and A.K. Murrey discussing the upcoming 2026 Epic Awards and Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, which aim to celebrate local arts and culture.  WNKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The WKU Sisterhood disbanded after it was told it must disaffiliate from the university because of HB4 & had donated over $1 million to WKU programs. Its remaining $116,500 was split among seven student groups, with WKU Student Publications set to receive $40,000.  College Heights Herald
  • Glasgow Middle assistant principal Lisa Bartley spoke on WCLU yesterday about the upcoming Idea Festival at WKU, where she will attend with her students + explore creative learning opportunities.  WCLU Radio

  • Tristar Greenview Hospital’s CMO warns that heart attack symptoms vary and residents may feel fatigue instead of chest pain especially for women and diabetics — he urges staying active, eating a heart-healthy diet, and consulting a doctor if experiencing a family history or shortness of breath during American Heart Month.  WNKY
