  • Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society is seeking pet foster parents today, Jan. 22, and tomorrow, Jan. 23, while offering free straw during business hours to help keep outdoor animals safe ahead of a cold front with temperatures falling below zero. The shelter advises bringing pets indoors for safety.  WBKO
  • A new food pantry at State Street Baptist Church was launched by the MLK planning committee and NAACP to help residents get essential groceries without stigma. It accepts government ID and will operate Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  WNKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bowling Green’s Public Works Department is ready for a potential winter storm by starting 12-hour crew rotations Friday evening; crews will treat high-traffic routes on Scottsville Road with salt and brine to keep snow from bonding to the pavement. Residents are urged to avoid travel to let crews work safely.  WBKO

HEALTH NEWS

  • The USDA announced a telemedicine grant for The Medical Center at Russellville that will expand interpreter services and bedside support; the new system begins summer 2026. It will help local patients communicate effectively through sign and other language services — ensuring better access to care.  WNKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • Greenwood senior Isaiah Summers scored 17 points to lead the local Gators to a 72-59 win over Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday night. The Bluegrass Blazers and Edmonson County also won close contests, with more local games scheduled on Thursday and Friday (keeping the community excited for high school sports).  Bowling Green Daily News

  • WKU announced Tuesday that Logan County grad Aubrey Sears (6 ft 1) joined its women's volleyball team as a transfer from Houston. The outside hitter posted 12 service aces at Houston and said she is excited to grow as a student and athlete at WKU.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • Glasgow Lady Scotties broke an 11-game losing streak with a 56-34 win at Warren Central on Tuesday leading 18-8 after the first quarter & will host Barren County Friday at 6 with the 2026 Glasgow Athletic Hall of Fame induction before tip-off at 5:15.  WCLU Radio
  • Tuesday night, Warren Central pulled ahead in the final period to win 81-64 against Glasgow, ending a close three-quarter battle; Glasgow will host Barren County Friday at 7:30 with an Athletic Hall of Fame induction between games.  WCLU Radio
  • The Barren County Trojanettes, led by junior guard Shelby Byrd who tallied 22 points in their win over Bowling Green on Jan. 13, are gaining confidence as they improve to a 17 — 2 record. The team will play at Glasgow at 6 p.m. on Friday.  Bowling Green Daily News
