  • Relay for Life held its kickoff meeting Tuesday evening at Bowling Green Ballpark Performance Club to discuss fundraising + honor top donating teams from 2025, announce upcoming team meetings, and unveil the Pirates of the Caribbean theme with the next meeting set for March 10 at 5:30 at BGMU.  WNKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Southern Kentucky Hospitality Association presented Brig. Gen. Dan Cherry with the Dallas Jones Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual Star Awards in Bowling Green today. Cherry's work at Aviation Heritage Park (the community site) has boosted tourism and hospitality across local attractions.  WNKY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new economic study shows Beaver Dam Amphitheater has generated more than $22 million in regional economic impact. The study may guide local growth strategies in the coming months.  WBKO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Due to an uptick in illness, Caverna Schools will use non-traditional instruction (NTI) today, Jan. 14, and continue through Jan. 16, with teachers providing specific work instructions so students complete and submit all assignments.  WBKO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials at the Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center near Kentucky Transpark are expecting a spring opening after delays from supply chain issues and construction setbacks — the 80,000 sqft facility designed for 60 veterans is moving toward final staffing and inspections.  Bowling Green Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • WKU women's tennis coach Greg Davis begins his eighth season with a home match against Bellarmine on Thursday at Michael O. Buchanon Park Indoor Tennis Courts. His retooled Lady Toppers team features few holdovers from last season as the squad aims for a fresh start.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • The WKU women’s basketball team will begin a two-game Conference USA road trip with a game at Sam Houston on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. and another at Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Jan. 17—fresh off a win over UTEP that boosted their confidence.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • At Bowling Green High School on Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Purples defeated the Trojans 69-53 while the Trojanettes won 57-27 over the Lady Purples (a doubleheader that showcased local high school basketball talent).  Bowling Green Daily News
  • WKU men's basketball will host Missouri State at E.A. Diddle Arena today at 6:30 p.m. as part of a three-game home stand; coach Hank Plona said his team will work to protect its home court after splitting two recent road games.  Bowling Green Daily News
