  • The FROZEN4 Run and Two-Mile Walk raised $25,000 to cover medical bills for local student-athlete Mason Davis and his family in Bowling Green. The event honored Davis's recovery from a car crash in April 2024 — organizers thanked every participant, sponsor and volunteer.  WNKY
  • Today, local families can enjoy the new Covington Woods Park playground after crews replaced the mulch with a rubberized surface to improve accessibility. The play area is located at 1044 Covington St.  WNKY
  • The BG MLK Planning Committee will launch its 26th annual celebration on Jan. 15 at The Capitol, starting with a kickoff that includes a quiz bowl and cake, and continuing with a Memorial Breakfast and memorial march on Jan. 19 to honor MLK’s legacy (featuring gospel performances and local speakers).  WKYU-FM

  • Horticulture professionals began gathering Monday for the Kentucky Fruit and Vegetable Conference and continue learning today at the Sloan Conference Center. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bowling Green’s city commission has allocated $60,000 to launch a revamped neighborhood grant program, including $30,000 for a spring beautification project. Residents and eligible tenants (including non-homeowners) may apply for up to $6,000 to upgrade community common areas within city limits.  WNKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Med Center Health celebrates its 100-year milestone with a yearlong multimedia history storyline and volunteer service program for local projects. It will open an Emergency — UrgentCare facility on Lovers Lane at the end of April and launch a new Epic health record system in December.  Bowling Green Daily News
  • With temperatures dropping into the 30’s and snow expected soon, the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society urges pet owners to bring pets indoors or give them a covered area with heat, water, and food.   • Hundreds attended Med Center Health's 100th-year expo at Sloan Convention Center Saturday, where screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, vision and other checks were offered to ease access to care.  WNKY
